Going to and from the airports

Flights from Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv, the "Party Capital" and the city that never sleeps, hosts Israel's largest international airport, Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV). It is considered one of the best five airports in the middle-east due to its high security. Domestic flights to and from Tel Aviv are also handled at Dov Hoz Airport Sde Dov (SDV).

Ben Gurion International Airport has two operating terminals. Terminal one caters to domestic flights and also some international flights. Terminal three is the main terminal for international flights and was built to accommodate over 10 million passengers. It also has two synagogues.

Travelling to Tel Aviv airport

You can find cheap flights to New York from Ben Gurion International Airport, which is located on highway one near the town of Lod. You can take the Tel Aviv Airport Flo Shuttle at around $17 per person, from your hotel/house right to the airport. Shared taxis (Sherut) and shuttle services are also available.

You may also catch an Israel Railways train (15 to 20 minutes) from Tel Aviv Savidor Central Railway Station to the railway station at the lower level of terminal 3. Railway services are closed on Shabbat. Cabs and buses are other options. The airport provides a free shuttle for transportation between terminals.

Reaching New York City

The largest city of the United States is a master of beautiful disguises. Bustling streets in daytime will look honest, though at night - with their flashy signboards and heavy traffic - will take on an entirely different, energetic appearance. The New York Skyline is something you must see before you die, and the city's distinct atmosphere must be experienced. The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art house have exhibits which make for an intense experience of art and culture. New York Hall of Science is another place you cannot miss. Of course, a NYC tour will be incomplete without visiting central park and the statue of Liberty.

Getting to the city center

Flights to NYC from inside the US mostly land at La Guardia (LGA) which is only eight miles from central NYC. If you're taking an international flight, you'll land at JFK. From both places, buying tickets for NYC Airporter buses from the airport ground transportation desk is your best bet at $13 to $17 to Grand Central Station, Penn Station, or the Port Authority Bus Terminal, from where you can take a Subway to anywhere in NYC. The journey should take around 60 minutes from LGA and around 90 minutes from JFK. SuperShuttle and Express Shuttle also take routes to the city, while taxis cost approximately $52 from JFK and around $37 from LGA.
