Online Check-In
Online check-in services are available for passengers 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. This service closes 60 minutes before take-off.
For passengers wishing to check-in through their device, mobile check-in is also available for all US destinations, but may also not be used for flights to and from Mexico.
All passengers are able to check in online provided they have a valid electronic ticket booking reference number. Online check-in services may be accessed with an e-ticket number or confirmation code.
Check in at the airport terminal is also viable. This can be done via the Virgin America check-in desk or a self-service kiosk (if one is available at the airport).
All airport check-in methods are open from 2 hours to 30 minutes before departure time. No extra fees are charged for checking in at the airport.
Hand Baggage Allowance
Each passenger is allowed to carry on 1 piece of standard cabin luggage and 1 personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Cabin baggage must be smaller than 25cm x 40cm x 60cm in order to be permitted onto the aircraft.
The maximum weight for cabin luggage items is 14kg.
Passengers are entitled to 1 free item of cabin luggage plus an addition small item such as a handbag or laptop computer. Any items that do not meet the airline’s cabin luggage requirements may be subject to the current check baggage fees.
Checked Baggage Allowance
Maximum dimensions for checked luggage for Virgin America flights must not exceed 158cm.
Weight allowance for a single item of checked luggage is 23kg, though this can be increased to a maximum of 32kg for a fee.
Passengers can check in a maximum of 10 items of baggage. No single item can be larger than 158cm or heavier than 23kg.
Additional item and weight allowances can be purchased when booking the flight, though bags that exceed the restrictions provided by the airline will be subject to an excess charge.
Sports equipment can be checked in on Virgin America flights and will be subject to the same price scheme as standard check baggage. No single item of baggage that is larger than 200cm will be accepted onto the aircraft.
