eDreams: What’s the thing you love most about travel?

Jodi: I love many things about travel, but overall it’s the fact that I never stop learning. Be it about people or cultures or food or how they all tie together and connect in way you’d never expect, travel enables you to file away all these new pieces of the puzzle. That knowledge helps keep life in perspective, keep me in perspective with respect to the wider world, and keeps me wanting to see and learn more. Travel can be many things to many people, but for me the joy lies in the learning.

Why do you blog?

I started blogging for the same reasons many people do – to keep my family and friends informed about what I was doing. It shifted into more of a business now, and I’m grateful for it. I love to share the experiences and newness and what I’ve learned, and it’s been very rewarding to hear from my readers too, about their lives and the stories they’ve lived. I would be writing even if I wasn’t sharing it online; I’ve always written and it’s a cathartic way to process new places for me. But it has been great fun to do so publicly, and I’m glad I started the blog.

Can you recommend 2 other travel blogs you like?

I really enjoy the honest rawness of Roxanne’s writing from Stories of Conflict and Love – she works in conflict zones and focuses on storytelling. Her writing is just beautiful and she is always a pleasure to read. I also love Roads and Kingdoms, a site focusing on food and understanding the places we visit, by some great veteran writers and photographers. I always look forward to one of their new posts.
