The winter holidays are a popular time to travel, meaning the roads, train stations, and airports can be busy, busy, busy. Recently, we did a study based on the traffic flow in UK airports during the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays and the results show the busiest and least busy dates for travelers catching flights from the 21st of December through the 6th of January.
The results found that the worst days to travel (traffic-wise) during the 2012 holidays are the Friday and Saturday before Christmas, the 21st and 22nd of December.
Travelers can find moderate traffic in airports on the 23rd, Christmas Eve (24th), Boxing Day (26th), the 27th, and 29th of December.
According to our study, the best days to travel and avoid crowds in the airport are Christmas Day (25th), the 30th of December, New Year’s Eve (31st), New Year’s Day (1st), and the 2nd-6th of January.
