Summer isn’t over yet and many of you will still be looking forward to your time in the sun. Every year, holiday makers flock to the coast of Southern Spain to take advantage of the area’s almost impeccable climate – you can always count on blue skies in Andalusia in August and Sepetmber.
We’ve planned a route from the Costa del Sol to the Costa de la Luz so that you can make the most of your time there. Below are some pointers on top must-sees, as well as some key fashion items from Springfield that will make sure you look the part too…

To kick off, we suggest getting a cheap flight to Malaga. From here you can begin touring the Andalusian landscape, but it is also a city steeped in history that is worthy of a visit in its own right.
Go to the Casa del Jardinero, the University Rectory, the Roman Theatre, the Acazaba, Zea-Salvatierra Palace, the Cathedral, Sagrario Church, Episcopal Palace, Genova Fountain or the Plaza del Obispo. But when you’re not sight-seeing, there are plenty of beaches, bars and restaurants to occupy you.
If you love the atmosphere by the sea then you must go to El Palo, a typical fishing neighbourhood. From here you can easily get to Las Acacias Pedregalejo, one of the most popular beaches. There you’ll find eateries serving cusine typical of Malaga.
Marbella
You can instantly experience all the glamour this destination has to offer when you step out in Puerto Banus. Lined with yachts, designer shopping and upscale bars, this is where the international jet-set come to be seen. And you can sunbathe with them during the day if you head to the beaches next to Hotel Puente Romano, or Marbella Club Hotel.
For a more low-key atmosphere and picturesque surroundings, head to Marbella old town. Think cobbled streets and white-washed buildings with wooden shutters and flower pots bursting with colour. There are plenty of little tapas bars, quaint squares and even a flamenco venue.
Don’t miss the huge street market at the bullring every Saturday, where you can find everything from CDs to antiques. And if you feel like a wander round some truly authentic and local Andalusian streets, look no further than nearby San Pedro de Alcantara.
Tarifa and Cadiz
Tarifa is an Andalusian mecca for surfers. Big waves, beautiful natural surroundings and a laid back atmosphere make it a great setting for watersports, hiking, climbing and mountain biking. However, there are a couple of important historical sites that aren’t to be missed, including the ancient roman town of Baelo Claudia, or the Necropolis de los Algarbes.
Meanwhile, in Cadiz, you won’t just find monuments in the historical centre. The surrounding area is dotted with churches, civil and military buildings, museums and a medieval village. But during your downtime the streets are a great place to stroll, enjoy a drink on a terrace and nibble on some of the town’s famed fried fish. And, of course, the beaches are filled with stunning spots where you can top up your tan.
Andalusia is a very special place, so don’t hesitate to check out offers on cheap flights and escape there for a few days, or weeks. There are a thousand routes to take… and a thousand and one reasons to go.
