Madagascar
This island, located in the Indian Ocean, is characterized by its rich flora and fauna, a result of the destination’s many years of isolation. Deforestation and poachers are two of the main challenges Madagascar faces today.
The Maldives
The Maldives are just 1.5 meters above sea level; these islands are in grave danger due to the rising sea level.
Venice
The high water phenomenon in Venice is increasingly more frequent, and as the North Pole melts, the city continues to sink.
Sub-Sahara Africa
The Sahara Desert extends at about 1 km per month, causing the desertification of surrounding areas and essentially “absorbing” the land of Sub-Sahara Africa.
Bangladesh
Due to its unfortunate geographical position, Bangladesh is threatened by increasingly frequent floods caused by torrential rains and hurricanes. The destination also suffers from periods of famine and drought.
The Aletsch Glacier, Switzerland
Like the rest of the glaciers in the Alps, this too is melting at a rapid pace.
The Tahuamanu Rainforest, Perú
This forest is rich in biodiversity; sadly enough, this won’t be the case for long, as more and more mahogany trees are cut down to satisfy the demands of the international timber market. The extensive deforestation has altered the ecosystem and is affecting the lives of indigenous tribes who have lived their entire lives in this forest.
The Belize Barrier Reef
The Belize Barrier Reef has a rich ecosystem that is threatened by climate change, pollution, increased ocean temperatures, hurricanes and mass tourism. 40% of its coral reefs have already been destroyed.
The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is in danger of drying up due to water evaporation, agricultural activities and industrial mineral extraction.
Yangtze River
This area is home to many plant and animal species, including the giant panda and the Yangtze River Dolphin. Due to massive industrialization and the continuous transit of ships, the river has become one of the most polluted in the world; agricultural development has also caused deforestation in this area.
